The first thing that I really noticed was the outstanding decor
at The Olive Tree. I thought to myself this was a great choice and ideal
because it is right on my doorstep.
My guests and I were tempted to just sit in the bar area and enjoy a few
tapas until we saw the restuarant and viewed the outstanding a la carte
menu. Some of us wanted tapas and others wanted to enjoy a main meal,
which included Rack of Lamb with wholegrain mustard and honey glaze sauce,
Fillet of Seabass in Champagne and Prawn sauce and Andalucian Paella. We
decided to eat in the restuarant and were immediately welcomed by the
friendly and efficient staff. The restuarant carried through from the bar
area and the design was breathtaking with a calm, relaxed eating
atmosphere. I particularly liked the authentic spanish paintings on the
wall.
Sure enough we were not disappointed with our meals. Enough delicious
tapas to feed an army were delivered and then my husband and I shared the
Paella, which took me back to our Spanish holiday this year. There were
plenty of wines to choose from and for my husband he was excited by the
vast variety of ales on tap.
I couldn’t fault this resturant in any way and reckon this is definitely a
gem found in Surrey, which should NOT be missed.
First visited in August and have had several visits since and have not
been disapointedwith the friendly and welcoming approach of the staff.

Visited the Olive Tree last night. Was very disappointed with the food. Watery pate was served with burnt brioche (although the waitress had noticed the brioche & brought us over some more). The andulucian prawns were tiny & swimming in a bowl of oil. The steaks were fine but didn’t taste of much. Needless to say we gave dessert a miss! Quite expensive & for the price you could get a decent meal somewhere nearby. On the plus side the serving staff were great, its the kitchen that needs work.
This place states it’s a Spanish tapas bar and restaurant but to be honest there is nothing spanish about it apart from the Spanish beer on offer. The bar is actually ok – but has no ambience. As for the restaurnat it’s clean with an open kitchen but the decor is so old fashioned, as is the menu. The a la cart menu is hardly spanish and when the food arrived it was bland, overcooked and wasn’t presented well. In terms of taste the food was ok, but when you consider the prices it just doesn’t go. The food was overpriced and not spanish. If you want good food than you are better of going to a local pub as this just isn’t spanish and it’s not very good.
Here are my marks:

I have often eaten tapas here with my friends and had a really nice meal. The bar and restaurant are very nicely decorated and the food is amazing! The staff are all very friendly and helpful with making choices of what to eat. The food is very well priced and well presented.
Had an excellent meal. Tod there are new chefs / managers in the place and have really done well. Food was great and the wine very nice.
