    What’s his Beef!!
I went to Nobles last night for dinner with my girlfriend. We had both been looking forward to it all week as had heard some good things. On arrival the restaurant seemed ideal. It was quiet, intimate, modern and had a welcoming atmosphere.
That’s where the positives end. The starters took nearly an hour to arrive. The smoked
Duck on the specials was good if incredibly small and my girlfriend enjoyed her crab risotto. The main course shortly followed. My girlfriend had ordered the Pheasant, and although very pleasant in taste was barely lukewarm. I had ordered the Fillet Beef, and when asked how I would like it to be prepared, I asked for “rare”.
When the meat arrived it was far from rare. So I asked the waitress to change it.
After 5 minutes a chef appeared at our table with my dinner in his hand and wanted to know what was wrong with his beef! I replied that I had ordered it rare and in my opinion it wasn’t. To my shock he told me that in his eyes it was perfectly cooked and that he wasn’t prepared to re do it. No alternative was offered or even an apology, it was a case of like it or lump it! At no point in paying my bill was I offered an apology or a reduction from the bill. Nobles clearly has no interest in customer service or ensuring that their customers leave happy and satisfied.

Why don’t you try my restaurant ‘Haydens’ in Hurst Green, East Sussex.
I pride myself in caring for my customers and if you had been unhappy with your meal in Haydens, I would have gone out of my way to help you.
I’ll give you your money back if you come to Haydens and don’t leave happy.

Ordered same as Mr Cross above – and enjoyed a fantastic meal. We eat at many top restaurants and we would definitely put Nobles on our short list of recommended ones. Bob

Bob, thank you for your very kind words. It’s words like yours that make this industry a pleasure to be in.

At Nobles we endeavour to ensure our customers leave happy and have a great meal experience. In Mike’s instance, his Fillet steak and starter were both taken off the bill.
Sally, as I am sure you will understand being a fellow restauranteur, that healthy rivalry between local restaurants makes us all stronger, however, we would never get involved in disagreements between other restaurants and their customers as a way of promoting ourselves! Nobles prides itself on being incrediably professional and do not need to stoop to this level to get and maintain customers. Paul Noble

Psul, I apologise if I offended you, it was never my intention.
I suppose I had read Mike’s comment and put pen to paper, so to speak, without really thinking.
I hope you accept my apologies. Sally
