Carluccio’s Spitalfields welcomes Francesco Mazzei from Castello di Fonterutoli

Carluccio’s Spitalfields welcomes wine producing heavyweight

On Wednesday the 18th of June, as part of Carluccio’s Tuscan festival, Carluccio’s caffè in Spitalfields is holding a special Tuscan wine dinner, hosted by one of the region’s most illustrious wine producers; Castello di Fonterutoli. For those new to wine-tasting the evening offers the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the flavours of Tuscan wine, while for seasoned professionals, it’s a unique chance to increase your knowledge of one of Italy’s most well known wine regions.

The evening begins at 7pm and includes a four course traditional Tuscan meal including coffee and canapés, with each course accompanied by a specially chosen Tuscan wine. Wines on offer include Maremma Rosato – a fresh, fruity rosé from Southern Tuscany, Poggio alla Badiola – a ‘Super-Tuscan’ with flavours of plums and damsons, and Chianti Classico – a rich and intense Chianti with a lingering fruit finish. Each tasting will be enhanced by the expertise of Francesco Mazzei from Castello di Fonterutoli, who will provide tasting notes and reveal some of the secrets behind creating a great Italian wine.

Guests will enjoy traditional, rustic cuisine including; antipasti toscano – a selection of Tuscan meats and cheese; porchetta – spit-roasted pork with rosemary; and zuccotto – a Tuscan sponge cake soaked in liqueur.

Carluccio’s Tuscan wine festival is taking place across all caffès and includes a complimentary wine tasting on Thursday the 12th of June, and the opportunity to try a selection of regional wines and Tuscan dishes from the deli and foodshop. For more information please visit www.carluccios.com
