The decorations have been stowed away, the purse strings have been stretched and the weather is miserable – it must be January. With so little to look forward to, fine-dining Malaysian restaurant, Awana, have decided to inject a little affordable spice into this famously uninspiring time of year.
For two weeks from 14th – 31st January 2008, Awana, the exotic eatery on Sloane Avenue is offering a specially created a three-course ‘curry and spice festival menu’ for just £18. The inspiration of acclaimed Executive Chef Mark Read, each dish is designed to put the colour back in your cheeks, leaving diners a little hot under the collar.

nasi pedas – spiced vegetable rice
ikan goring – crispy fried fragrant whitebait
roti canai – curried Malaysian bread made from a traditional family recipe
salmon satay – salmon skewers served with spicy peanut sauce

rendang ayam – slow cooked roasted chicken curry with coconut milk and blended herbs
sambal tohu – mixed vegetables wrapped in tofu skin with sambal chilli
kambing kapitan – spicy lamb curry with lemongrass, lime leaves and chilli
nasi biryani dan acar – aromatic basmati rice with spicy pickled vegetables
