The Black Rat is on Chesil St
so not too far to walk from
the bottom of town.
A friend said it was good so
we were happy to book a table
for 3.
They had a nice touch of letting
us go to the upstairs bar for a
drink
while we looked at the menu. There
are several small rooms and even
a bath
in the bathroom should you need
it! Then we were called downstairs
when
our food was ready. Apparently
it was an old pub so there is a
lot of wood
and brick showing and some nice
patterned wall paper.
I had the Buffalo mozzarella with
peaches to start as I like cheese
and
was not brave enough to try the
lambs tongues though my friend
said they
were good.
We had some excellent white wine
with the main course. I had the
duck, and
my friends had the turbot and a
large grilled stake. They all looked
and
tasted great.
I could not manage a desert peach
sorbet with vodka and the cheese
looked
good and I tried some of my friends.
Finished up with a nice coffee
and plenty of time not to be rushed
make
this somewhere we'll be coming
back.
