{"id":338,"date":"2008-07-17T12:15:46","date_gmt":"2008-07-17T12:15:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dine-online.co.uk\/foodie\/geales-restaurant-celebrates-start-of-native-english-lobster-season\/"},"modified":"2008-07-17T12:15:46","modified_gmt":"2008-07-17T12:15:46","slug":"geales-restaurant-celebrates-start-of-native-english-lobster-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dine-online.co.uk\/foodie\/geales-restaurant-celebrates-start-of-native-english-lobster-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Geales Restaurant Celebrates Start of Native English Lobster Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Geales Restaurant<\/h2>\n<p><em><br \/>\nGeales, 2 Farmer Street, Notting  Hill, London, W8 7SN &#8211; Bookings 020 7727 7528<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Geales Restaurant Celebrates Start of Native English Lobster Season<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Renowned London seafood restaurant Geales is celebrating the start of the native<br \/>\nEnglish  Lobster season in style this summer with a weekly lobster  night  every<br \/>\nWednesday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The  first  lobster  night is Wednesday 23rd July starting at  7pm  onwards  and<br \/>\nbookings will be on a first come first served basis.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Three  times  Michelin  starred chef <strong>Garry Hollihead<\/strong> will  be  preparing  chef&#8217;s<br \/>\nspecials  for the night in addition to signature dishes are Lobster Tagliatelle,<br \/>\nserved  with  tomato,  and  spring  onion and a  succulent  Roast  Lobster  with<br \/>\nWatercress Mayonnaise.<\/p>\n<p>The  season  for Cornish lobster has just begun and the famous Geales restaurant<br \/>\nin  Notting Hill, west London is a favourite destination for connoisseurs of the<br \/>\nshellfish delicacy.<br \/>\nAs  always Garry Hollihead has sourced the freshest and best lobster from Newlyn<br \/>\nin  Cornwall which is delivered straight from the boat, and surprisingly due  to<br \/>\nthe quality of the produce he manages to keep the price low at only \u00a315.95 for a<br \/>\nhalf lobster and \u00a326.95 for a whole one.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Garry  said:<\/strong> <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;English lobster have only just come into season, so it&#8217;s the  best<br \/>\ntime to serve them over the next few months.<br \/>\n&#8220;The  Cornish lobster we serve is looking especially good this year and has such<br \/>\na distinctive yet delicate flavour.<br \/>\nAnd  he  added:  &#8220;We  always try to keep the price as low as  possible  as  well<br \/>\nbecause  we  feel that lobster is such an amazing dish it shouldn&#8217;t  just  be  a<br \/>\nspecial treat that people are put off having because of the exorbitant price.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The lobster season starts in mid June, but the best lobster comes a little later<br \/>\nin the month and then runs till the end of September.<\/p>\n<p>Garry  sources  his  lobsters  from Newlyn in Cornwall,  from  renowned  trapper<br \/>\nMatthew  Stevens. He has used this source for several years, simply because  the<br \/>\nquality is second to none.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Garry  said: <\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p> &#8220;The  lobsters we get from Newlyn are perfect.  The  freshness  of<br \/>\nlobster  is  one factor that has a significant impact on the flavour.  They  are<br \/>\npacked in ice and sent straight to the restaurant and then served the same  day.<br \/>\nThe freshness of the lobster is absolutely essential to get the best flavour and<br \/>\ntexture.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>And  Garry added: <\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;My tip for anyone wanting to cook lobster at home is to start<br \/>\nthem  in very cold water, then continuously increase the heat very slowly  until<br \/>\nthe  lobster  is cooked. This makes the lobster very soft and incredibly  tender<br \/>\nwhen served.&#8221;\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Geales  first opened in 1939 and has been a neighbourhood favourite  in  Notting<br \/>\nHill  ever  since.  In May 2007 Garry Hollihead and his business  partners  Mark<br \/>\nFuller   and  Andy  Taylor  re-launched  and  refurbished  the  restaurant   and<br \/>\nrejuvenated  the menu.
