With Tom Aiken’s new fish and chip shop, good old fish’n’chips may soon be seen on the plates of the elite and glamorous.

Nearly 150 years after the first fish and chip shop opened up in London, high profile chef, Tom Aiken’s thinks its time for a change; a healthy organic change. In fact, Tom will personally ensure that his grub is comprised of good quality, sustainable fresh seafood.

Hello? Where is the fun in that? Yes, the sales of organic seafood have increased by 39% in the last year, but I would safely say that obesity rates have risen even higher!

Paying a visit to your local fish’n’chip shop isn’t supposed to cost you double your hourly wage, or offer you your daily intake of Omega 3. No, eating fish’n’chips isn’t supposed to make you feel good – it’s intended to make you feel greasy, bloated and fabulously guilty as your fingers are covered in sticky sauce and mushy peas. What a treat!

So if you want to feel good about your food choices by being produce-conscious, buy a beautiful organic apple, and savour in its taste and cost – but leave good old, indulgent, fish’n’chips alone!

– I’ll have mine with an extra side of grease thanks!

Jacklyn Swiecicki

Short Bio

Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, where growing up in such a buzzing city full of eccentrics and diverse nationalities was the norm, food appreciation came hand in hand with simply going out for a weekday meal. In Melbourne, people don’t just eat; they appreciate what’s presented on a plate. Having a background in publishing and journalism, I adore the feeling and physical comfort that food writing conjures up in readers. Aside from my own passion for cooking, food writing offers a beautiful and real desire for sensory indulgence and new experiences. Having travelled the world for the best part of last year, and now settling in England, I am excited to sample the wonderfully diverse tastes that have revolutionised traditional English cooking. My taste buds are tingling in anticipation….

Jacklyn Swiecicki

Jacklyns_5@hotmail.com

Tom’s Place – Fish and Chips Chelsea Style!
