Amongst the hustle
and bustle of Glasgow's West End
lies a haven for diners and those
looking for a truly great bar - 'The
Lansdowne Bar and Kitchen' -
which is definitely something of
a hidden gem. It's cozy and inviting
décor with comfy sofas and
warm wooden flooring provides a
relaxing setting in which to enjoy
an array of dishes, great drinks
and good company as the nights
draw in and the frost begins to
bite. (You'll find the Lansdowne
just off Great Western Road - just
a few minutes walk from Kelvinbridge
Underground).
The varied
menu kicks off with a selection
of winter warming soups, fresh
Scottish mussels and a wide range
of specialty salads sure to cater
for every taste.
For those looking
for a light, healthy bite, freshly
made ciabattas and wraps are also
on offer. Amongst the main courses
are vegetable conchiglie, Thai
green curry and Cajun salmon, as
well as more comforting, wholesome
dishes such as fish & chips,
10 oz ribeye steak and delicious
homemade lasagne. I sampled one
of the many daily specials on offer
and discovered that they are called
specials for a reason! The specials
menu varies on a daily basis and
is taken from a wide range of influences,
including both international and
local Scottish cuisine.
The more-ish menu,
teamed with lively and helpful
staff, and a wine list that reads
like an around the world ticket,
The Lansdowne Bar and Kitchen is
really is the ticket for any diner
looking for quality food and service.
The cocktails are first class and
there's a great range of spirits,
beers and lager available too.
Food is
served daily from 12-10pm and
the Sunday brunch menu is available
from 12-4pm. I also noticed they
have great conservatory space
at the back which they hire out
for parties or events.
If you fancy a great
day or night out in the West End
of Glasgow..this is the place to
visit!
