Finest English finger sandwiches are accompanied by the lightest and freshest baked scones, with homemade jams and Devonshire Clotted Cream. Traditional classics feature heavily on the cake stall and of course, “Essentially English” also means toasted crumpets and tea cakes.

Prêt-a- Portea is a new concept in afternoon tea. It has been designed to add a creative twist to the classic elements of the traditional English afternoon tea, with the cakes and pastries inspired by the latest fashion season’s catwalk designs for the style conscious and with savouries in miniature mouthfuls for the figure conscious. Pret-a-Portea is served in the Caramel at The Berkeley from 2-6pm everyday.

The Promenade, which has always been the heart of The Dorchester, has been spectacularly refurbished by Thierry Despont. Afternoon Tea has two sittings, one at 2.30pm and the other at 4.45pm.

Served in the spectacular Palm Court, a choice of several varieties of tea, finely cut sandwiches, freshly baked scones, jam and clotted cream and a range of delicate pastries, combine to make for an unforgettable afternoon. The Ritz London has a formal dress code in its public areas. Gentlemen are requested to wear a jacket and tie when using The Palm Court, Rivoli Bar or The Ritz Restaurant. Jeans and/or training shoes are not permitted in these areas. Booking at least 4 weeks in advance is essential to avoid disappointment. Afternoon tea has five sittings, 11.30am, 1.30pm, 3.30pm, 5.30pm and 7.30pm.
