RS Lounge is situated near to
Epping Forest, the visually arresting
glass building commands spectacular
views of the stunning natural
environment. The second floor
is reached via an impressive
16.3 ton winding glass staircase
- just don’t look down
if you‘re scared of heights!
A minimalist ‘white and
glass’ décor theme
is noticeable throughout, with
attention paid to every detail.
There is a large wood decking
terrace located at the rear where
you can dine on fine summer evenings
- we were seated in the upstairs
lounge in large comfy chairs
as it was cold when we visited,
but outside dining is encouraged
in fine weather.
RS Lounge have created a menu
with a great range of food, sprinkled
with an international fusion
to spice things up! The menu
is not traditionally packaged,
in that it is not split into
starters, mains and desserts
- it is ordered purely as Vegetarian
and Non-Vegetarian. This means
that there is a wide choice of
meals to suit both groups and
is much easier to navigate. I
also noted that the produce is
ethically sourced from local
farmers and suppliers - bravo
RS Lounge!
To eat, I chose the grilled salmon
with buttered asparagus and dill
dressing (served on the side)
with dill potatoes. The salmon
was cooked to perfection - soft
and fluffy - and was not overpowered
with too many flavours. The portions
were also agreeable - two salmon
fillets as standard! My guest
enjoyed a supreme of chargrilled
chicken, marinated with garlic
infused olive oil, lemon juice
and spices. This was served with
a generous helping of mint and
mango dipping, which added to
the taste sensation. The chicken
was soft, tender and flawlessly
flavoured - thumbs up! To share,
we also tried one of the six
house salads and a carrot naan
from the menu’s selection
of breads. The tomato, avocado
and mozzarella salad with balsamic
olive oil and basil dressing
was fresh, tasty and simple -
as a salad should be. The
carrot naan was wonderfully different
and surprisingly light, and was
served with a reviving mango
dip.
To drink, we ordered a bottle
of Gavi di Gavi La Toledana,
Domini Villa Lanata with our
meal, which was light and refreshing.
There is a comprehensive wine
list, featuring a varied and
interesting selection from across
the globe with plenty of choices
from £12.50 a bottle upwards.
In place of dessert we
decided to sample one of the
popular
cocktails RS Lounge have to offer
- the Long Island Iced Tea, averagely
priced at £6.95, provided
a zesty, juicy burst of flavour
to fortify us on our homeward
journey!
To sum up, the RS Lounge has
a glamorous, yet relaxed atmosphere
and has managed to achieve that
wonderful balance of feeling
incredibly exclusive, but also
somewhere you feel free to relax
and unwind with friends. Friendly
staff, professional service,
great food and clever design
have added a touch of Hollywood
Hills to South Woodford! Go visit
- I promise you won’t be
disappointed.
The venue is situated close to
South Woodford Tube (a mere 10
mins from Liverpool Street Station
on the Central Line) and there
is a VIP car park situated at
the rear of the building. The
venue can also arrange for chauffer
service or taxis for its guests.
A meal for two with a bottle
of wine is around £25 a
head.
