"Having recently taken over the Stephan
Langton Inn, Chris & Rosie Robinson
have spent time putting their stamp
on the business. Wanting to maintain
the traditional atmosphere they have
decorated the restaurant and bar
in colours and designs sympathetic
to the location. Food can be taken
as formally or informally as you
wish during the day and in the evening
the Restaurant serves a full menu
as well.
Having taken on a restaurant with
a reputation, the Robinsons are rising
to the challenge and are building
on its success. They only serve freshly
prepared dishes using local produce
as their preference. Abinger Watercress
Soup, Chargrilled English Asparagus,
Tillingbourne Smoked Trout Paté and
home made Pork Pie with their own
Piccalilli are some examples of the
dishes currently on the menu. Other
choices include Slow Roast Pork Belly
with Braised White Kidney Beans and
Chorizo, and a firm favourite is
the Chargrilled Fillet Steak with
Dauphinoise Potatoes and a hot Horseradish
Cream.
The bar has also seen some changes
with a new wine list and the introduction
of drinks such as Irish and Scottish
malt whiskies and premium soft drinks
and juices. Of the three cask ales,
two are local.
The Stephan Langton is just South
of the A25 between Dorking and Abinger
Hammer. (Follow the signs to Friday
Street). It's off the beaten track,
but in a marvellous setting close
by a secret mill pond.
Please Note: The Stephan Langton
can be a bit difficult to find – just
remember, once you get to the pond
follow the lane that runs alongside
it.
