Credit Squeeze or Not, Now Is A Great Time To Eat Out
Now Is A Great Time To Eat Out
Helen Forrest lets us have her thoughts on Food, Dining and Value For Money – amongst other things….
The only thing better than an enjoyable meal is being able to
share your enthusiasm of that meal with other prospective customers. And
of course it is a pleasure all of its own to really hold court over a less
than favourable dining experience.
I’m a 28 yr old charity worker who writes in her spare time. I have found
I particularly enjoy writing about food, and as a member of top table have
written a number of short reviews of meals booked through the site.
I think that this is an exciting time for British food, despite the credit
squeeze. There are a several television series dedicated to a celebration
of traditional and fusion British cuisine, and food as the new rock and
roll has yet to lose its momentum. London is one of the greatest cities in
the world for sampling a huge variety of dishes, and it is just as
possible to have a memorable meal on a budget as it is to splash out at a
‘name’ establishment.
I love perusing a good menu, and always like to look over the dishes
before I good to a restaurant. I think that sites such as ‘toptable.com‘
have made more expensive restaurants affordable for less than minted
customers, which can only be a good thing. So you may encounter the odd
snooty waitress, or the disapproving gaze of the management, but that can
be overlooked – snobbery and the influence of class has always surrounded
food, especially in the UK. However, I love the fact that one can always
find a good eating house in London, and that often the simplest meals can
be the best. Good bread, better oil, perhaps some balsamic vinegar… I
don’t think there is a better appetizer, and it is usually a very good
sign if you are served such delights at the beginning of a meal.
